But on their way to rendezvous, a rift in essence tears apart, sweeping them all into an unknown world! Meanwhile, Aoba's all set to clock out from the junk shop "Mediocrity", when he notices something isn't quite right. Irretrievable memories, fluctuating electrical data... it all seems to point to one possibility...

Klein Continent

On Klein Continent, the Grand Sorcerer is tasked with maintaining the balance of essence—the force which keeps this world from falling apart. Decades ago, following his disappearance, the altars regulating this balance spiraled out of control, unleashing devastation across the land. As disasters ravage the unbalanced continent of Klein, the Grand Sorcerer's familiars summon someone from a totally different world—Eiden.
Awakening into a whole new reality, Eiden begins his quest to seek out the clan members. As he learns how to regulate essence, he must take up the mantle of the former Grand Sorcerer.

Dark Territory

Located in the northern reaches of Klein Continent, the essence here is especially active. Mischievous elemental spirits gather here, causing the Dark Territory's scenery to shift endlessly. A enigmatic, ever-changing land teeming with monsters.

Essence

A force that can be consciously harnessed and released by thought alone. All subjects of Klein are born with mild essence, but only a gifted few can bend it to their will. But in this new world, it seems as though essence is highly restricted...?

Gemstone Altar

Across the Klein Continent, the Grand Sorcerer placed five gemstone altars—one in each territory—and regularly patrolled them to regulate the power of the elemental spirits. Following his disappearance, the duty of carrying out these regulations now falls to Eiden and the clan members.

Midorijima

Once a lush island filled with natural beauty. However, after being acquired and developed by the Toue Corporation, it became a place plagued by a stark wealth disparity.

Old Residential District

When developing Midorijima, the Toue Corporation offered residents a relocation plan. The majority chose to leave, but those who refused were driven into a corner of the island—today’s "Old Residential District". Providing only the most basic living necessities, the area was virtually abandoned by authorities, leaving gangs to rule the streets.

Allmate

An artificial life-form equipped with AI, Allmates come in a wide variety of appearances. Capable of accessing the net to provide assistance and communicating fluently through speech, they are also kept by many as beloved pets.

Rhyme

Only those who possess an Allmate can participate in Rhyme, the virtual combat game so popular among the youth. Players connect to engage in battles where one player's psyche is projected into a virtual space, and the two combatants clash with their companions. Official matches are overseen by a digital referee.

Platinum Jail

A high-class entertainment facility built on Midorijima by the Toue Corporation. A massive wall separates it from the residential district of Old Residential District, making it impossible for those outside to peer in.

Phantom Slasher

When an unsanctioned Rhyme battle is initiated without warning, these illegal matches lack a referee to regulate the system. Any damage suffered in the virtual space can bleed over into reality, causing severe physical trauma—and potentially permanent consequences.
